About this deal

I've been very satisfied with how this little system handles music. Even in "Direct" and "Pure Direct" mode where the subwoofer is by-passed - these little bookshelves seem to go down quite low for most needs. I think they would be hard to beat at their price point. Wharfedale loudspeakers are so well regarded, above all, for their sonic excellence. Build quality is impeccable and design is focused - resulting in an overall product which is coherent and capable. Wharfedale are an industry leader and consistently produce award-winning and industry-renowned loudspeaker products. The Wharfedale 10.1 showcases new and improved individual drivers, while the tweeter has been redesigned to deliver a clean and seamless high-frequency thanks to an extra diffuser grill.

Diamond 10 Series, Wharfedale has again raised the bar for affordable, high performance loudspeakers The Diamond 12.1 speakers are set up for bi-wire use with the upper terminals reserved for treble use and the lower terminals aimed at mid-bass driver use. Metal straps are included is bi-wire is not required. The terminals themselves have a screw thread and will take banana plugs, spades or even bare wire. Sure, that might mean that the Diamond 12.1s may offer a touch less dynamic reach in upper mid terms but, quite frankly, when you hear the Wharefdales you’re not thinking about that at all. You don’t hear anything missing here at all. You only hear the added bass, the well-developed nature of the musical presentation and the extra layers of detail on offer. Many people see IAG’s Chinese connections as a bad thing, one that affects the brand name of Wharfedale plus other brands like Audiolab and Leak (two other brands under the IAG umbrella). It would, however, be well worth investing a little more. And if sound per pound is of most importance, then grab the 10.1s, and a pair of stands with the money saved. We can't help switching to the Diamond 10.1 bookshelfs; the added punch, precision and solidity to the sound is noticeable. The Diamond 100 Series is the latest incarnation of Wharfedale’s award-winning Diamond range, and a culmination of the lessons Wharfedale have learned throughout the 30 years of rich heritage. Featuring 4 floorstanding models, 2 bookshelf models and 2 centre speakers, the new Diamond 100 series has something for everyone, and is at home in a multi-channel surround sound system as it is a conventional hi-fi stereo setup. The Diamonds boast a curved cabinet, which helps to minimise unwanted internal interference, and even the surround of the Kevlar mid/bass driver has a moulded pattern to help reduce the effects of standing waves. The main part of the 130mm mid/bass driver is polypropylene. According to the company, drivers made from this stuff has “…a reputation in some quarters for sounding a little ‘unexciting’ – a perception that is largely the result of mediocre engineering.” Their current range includes Reva, Denton, Diamond 11 and Diamond 200 series, D300 and vintage-look Heritage speakers as well as the newer bluetooth DS-2 speakers and Vista 200 subwoofer.

Wharfedale on kehittänyt DIAMOND kaiutinmallistoaan jo lähes 30-vuoden ajan. Viimeisin aikaansaannos on palkittu ja kriitikoiden ylistämä Diamond 10 -sarja, joka nostaa korkean suorituskyvyn omaavien kohtuuhintaisten kaiuttimien riman pilviin. range is the range of input power in watts RMS that a loudspeaker is designed to handle. While using an amplifier within this range ensures the nominal performance , inputting a power that is higher than the max wattage can result in a damaged speaker. The discerning audiophile will also note the diamond pattern moulded into the surround of the woven Kevlar cone. This is more than just cosmetic as the pattern reduces and damps standing waves in the surround yeilding a cleaner high frequency acoustic roll-off. Wharfedale has a history of over 75 years of setting standards in perfecting loudspeaker performance and are renowned for having the most integrated and thorough manufacturing and quality control process in the industry. If space is an issue, our speakers range also includes a range of soundbars, which still giving you a taste of real home cinema surround sound, without the number of speakers and cables necessary for a full 5.1 or 7.1 speaker system and many of these models now also feature Bluetooth connectivity to play music from your phone or portable player, and this section also includes soundbases, which are designed to sit underneath rather than in front of your screen. Every product and process in speaker design and manufacturing is handled in-house making it the most advanced research and development program, meaning that Wharfedale are able to design exactly to their own spec without limitation - and can exact this vision to perfection. Such design principles are evident in the finished product. Consequently, the Wharfedales produce a surprisingly mature sound for the money. Listen to Ellie Goulding's Starry Eyed and her dulcet tones are beautifully reproduced in a sweet-sounding and natural manner.

OPUS-Definitely the class of the wharfedale line, need good dedicated amp to get the most out of this line. Paired with another beer-money bargain, Onkyo's A-9010 (UK) integrated amplifier, the Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 really shone. Confident, composed and comely, this bookshelf design proved quite addictive. However, it was the level of musical refinement that the Diamond 12.1 presented that was the cherry on top. I have owned many Wharfedale speakers and I have to say they are probably the most consistent brand across their models as far as quality, don't get me wrong though most of the model lines have different sound signatures. Currently I own the Evolution 40's up front with the Evo center and Opus tri surrounds in the rear and the sound is so balanced and clear. I have owned the following models over the years:

Here is another review of the Wharfedale Diamond 225, and the guy doing the review has heard a LOT of speakers. Diamond 10Wharfedale’s Diamond range of loudspeakers need little introduction, with nearly three decades of supremacy within the hi-fi sector, numerous international awards and over 1 million pairs sold worldwide, combined to make Diamond 'THE' most recognizable name in hi-fi. Diamond 10 introduces innovative acoustic technology with laser cut radial aesthetics. Fresh and visually exciting, Diamond 10 is as much an aesthetic triumph as it is an acoustic one, a luxurious compliment to any modern living environment. The Wharfedale Diamond 10.1 speaker's twin reflex ports have been moved to the rear of the cabinet, to reduce the effects of audible distortion. These ports extend the bass to below 45Hz, contributing to an impressive sense of sonic scale. Over the soft-dome tweeter is a metal diffusion grid which, as well as protecting the dome when the speaker is being used without its grille, also irons out high-frequency perturbations right up to 30kHz, delivering a smoother response and crystal-clear treble detailing. And though others might disagree, I think the general tonality of the speaker is consistent enough that you can blend Diamond 9 and Diamond 10 components in the future should you ever decide to expand the system.
