About this deal

Our preference is whole milk, because we think it makes it nice and thick and creamy, and it's also good for the protein and calcium for the kids. I often, microwave 2 mins, then in smaller times, always watching the bowl to make sure its not going to come over the top. Established in 2011, Hungry Healthy Happy has become one of the UK's most popular food blogs, with two successful recipe books published. This may affect nutrition and allergen information therefore you should always check product labels and not rely solely on the information presented here.

The bowl is too small for porridge, it bubbles up and ends up all over the microwave and dripping down the exterior of the bowl. This is a neat little bowl and seemed to be exactly what I needed to make my morning bowl of microwave porridge. Not just for porridge, this bowl has a clip-top lid which makes it ideal for transporting a portion of leftovers to work for lunch or reheating a hearty home-made soup, while the integral vent just clips open when it’s time to reheat your meal. Most purchases from business sellers are protected by the Consumer Contract Regulations 2013 which give you the right to cancel the purchase within 14 days after the day you receive the item. With the generic microwave instructions included, at least with mine, I do wonder if this idea was even tested or if they just made a microwave safe bowl and thought, “I guess it would be good for porridge”.

toppings include a sprinkle of sugar, drizzle of maple syrup, honey or golden syrup, small handful of chocolate chips or a dollop of Nutella or jam.

If your porridge looks like it has exploded in your microwave, then that's because your bowl was probably too small. If you wanted to make this vegan, then you could swap whole milk for a plant based milk like soy, cashew, oat milk or almond milk. Bought this item in February and used it 3 times and it’s already broken, the seal doesn’t work, liquid spills everywhere and now the lid doesn’t fit back on the container after microwaving. That’s not to say the quality is bad, it’s great and it would last quite a while even with someone rough but when the design is this bad, it really doesn’t matter. The range of steamers, plates, soup mugs, and bowls create nutritious meals or a quick and easy snack.

A hearty and filling breakfast is a must in our house and whilst we do love making porridge the traditional way when we have a little more time, this 5 minute microwave porridge has been a life saver for us.Mix rolled oats, water, and milk in a bowl (use a large bowl to prevent spilling over when cooking). Each piece is made from tough, non-stick material, and they can go straight in the dishwasher for easy clean-up when you’re done. If we were to get to our place of work, pour in some porridge, some milk then microwave in this, isn’t it pointless and a bowl would have done since you have all the resources to make it already and don’t need the portability?

For those days I have to go to the office, this is great for soup or warm pasta/rice salads or breakfast porridge and cereals!

Having used cheap variants that in one case only lasted for three soups before it was permanently stained and started to taste odd, I can recommend this product. Perhaps we're doing something that a 'professional' Chef hasn't thought of, maybe not overfilling it ;) This also keep the contents piping hot for quite a while, which gives you some flexibility if you need to use the microwave for something else. I've suggested four fabulous porridge flavours below, and you can come up with your own topping ideas too. Today I’m back with more bento goodness…or not-so-goodness as the case may be with today’s “Tales of interesting bentos”!
