About this deal

The Strength encompasses twice the quantity of botanicals and a focus on the extraordinary African buchu, sweet orange peel and herbaceous mountain pine. Macerated in the gin for several months, these wild berries add a richly rounded, lightly sweet and exquisitely fruity bouquet as well as a typical warm red colour to the spirit. Instead of the hemp string that ties around the London Dry bottles, the Strength Gin features a rope-like string with a charming miniature anchor hanging from it. Elephant Dry Gin is distilled in Germany using 14 botanicals that include some unusual but fascinating African ingredients like Baobab, the Buchu plant, Devil’s Claw and African Wormwood. Although produced in Germany, the gins are an extraordinary tribute to the continent of Africa: in addition to more classic herbs, roots and fruits, African botanicals such as cassis and lion's tail are used.

Whilst the Elephant London Dry Gin and Elephant Strength Gin share the same fourteen botanicals, including rare African ingredients, to create their distinctive flavour profiles, the latter uses twice the quantity of botanicals and has an ABV of 57%. Elephant Gin was launched in 2013 in Germany by Robin and Tessa Gerlach who were inspired by the flavours of Africa and developed a vision to help wildlife conversation trusts. In fact 15% of Elephant Gin’s profits go to two African elephant foundations helping them to survive.

They're perfectly balanced, and the traditional copper pot still distillation method by which they become Elephant Gin brings out their individual flavours excellently. Taste An intense burst of fresh aroma and natural sweetness, followed by a full-bodied botanical foundation and beautifully balanced juniper end. With the hand-crafted bottle, complete with cork stopper and an old fashioned map on the label, Elephant Dry Gin certainly captures the spirit of exploration.Botanicals: 14 including juniper, devil's claw, buchu, baobab, lion's tail, wormwood, apple, pine needles, lavender, sweet orange peel, ginger, pimento berries, elderflower. When neat, the nose is generous and complex, with pine, herbaceous notes, earthy spice, fruity citrus and hints of florals. The Elephant gin’s nose shows a subtle juniper aroma, with an undertone of mountain pine and other herbaceous notes.

Handcrafted, all botanticals are hand-selected, labels hand-written and each batch named after a special African elephant. This transitions seamlessly into a finish of warming ginger, peppery spice and lingering bittersweet citrus. Urban Bar take our design rights and intellectual property very seriously, we do not create items for others to copy. The term 'schnapps' comes from the Low German language and is a nod to the fact the drink should be consumed quickly. They're joined by mountain pine, apple, orange peel, ginger, and a few more hushed-up botanicals that make Elephant Gin such a treat. This herb has a more camphorous flavour, notes of birch twigs, mint and a final palate of pine and black currant. The Elephant Strength bottle takes inspiration from its naval origins with navy blue accents and an inviting map of the ocean, conjuring far-flung exploration and the spirit of adventure at the heart of the brand.
