I absolutely loved Songs of Love and War (5-star read for me) but this 2nd in the trilogy didn't captivate me as much as Love and War did. Esta segunda parte se enfoca mucho más en Celia, prima de Kitty y a pesar de que me gustó ya que se siguen desarrollando paralelamente otras tramas que me llaman mucho más la atención, sentí que quizás el ritmo de esta historia es un poco más plana que el anterior, aunque hay momentos que me dejaron INSHOCK literal, de igual manera como Celia no es mi favorita, habían situaciones que simplemente no me interesaban. stars to the first book in this trilogy and deliberately saved this second installment for when I could curl up in a cosy chair and devour it uninterrupted; having finished work for the Christmas break, now was the perfect moment. Por otro lado admiraba muchísimo a Lady Grace y en este libro me he llenado de asco y desprecio hacia ella. El final me dejó con DEMASIADAS ganas de leer el siguiente ya que presentía que podía pasar, pero AAAAAH! Así también tenemos a Birdie, quien se ha convertido en un mujer rica, pero lo único que ella no podría comprar es a su hijo , el Pequeño Jack, esta dispuesta a recuperarlo, pero en el camino , se dará cuenta que ya es demasiado tarde, su hijo pertenece a Kitty( a quien odia profundamente). Montefiore does a great job of including pieces of background from the previous novel to ensure an easy transition for the reader.

Some books are easy to read as a stand alone, but found on this occasion that it wasn't so easy to pick up the story. The story started moving, and the pieces started making sense together–I still felt like I was playing catch up the whole time, though. He obviously has been a great help, for I have been surprised at her detailed knowledge of church life and all things Irish. I had to skip over parts since they were quite dry and weren't keeping me turning the pages the way the 1st did. She has also co-authored the Royal Rabbits of London series with her husband, the historian and author Simon Sebag-Montefiore. So many story lines weaving together, leaving the reader with great anticipation about what happens next. It lacks the intimacy of the first book, and the feisty characters I'd loved first time round have now become two-dimensional and irritating.
