About this deal

On Saturday 6th May, King Charles III was crowned in an ancient ceremony not seen in almost 70 years. Charles has, after all, been playing the caboose, just like another Little Golden Books character, for more than seven decades, and now he finally gets to be the steam engine! But in a boxer-shorts blunder at the Royal Mail, the King's undies have been posted to his subjects nationwide! The income from your ticket contributes directly to The Royal Collection Trust, a registered charity.

People provide various justifications for disliking Charles: He married a woman he didn’t love and then cheated on her; he’s a fuddy-duddy who hates modern architecture; he’s a cold fish who alienated his youngest son. Our young people care deeply about the environment and this wonderful Ladybird guide looks at the causes and effects of climate change on human life, nature and the Earth’s geography. To celebrate the Coronation of Their Majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla on 6 May 2023, Royal Collection Trust has commissioned this official and exclusive range of English fine bone china. As we gear up for the coronation of King Charles, there's no better time to learn about the history of coronations and about the man who will be crowned on May 6, 2023. If you’re looking for a book for children who have moved on from picture books to early readers and chapter books then look no further!

Another classic picture book series of all time is Mr Men and Little Miss, so it’s only fitting to have a coronation special! Publishing nonfiction for children seems admirable, but how to do justice to a life like Colin Powell’s ( another Little Golden Book Biographies subject), which includes both a distinguished and groundbreaking career in public service and misrepresenting intelligence to prompt the nation into an unnecessary war? Robson told Town and Country that she was inspired by wondering whether a coronation could have actual, personal significance for ordinary people: “Could the coronation, could the procession going by, have an effect on you personally, above and beyond having a story to tell your grandchildren? This month's Get Creative is getting royally imaginative too, with inventive acrostic poems and story starters to encourage kids to use the coronation to inspire their writing. Both King Charles and Queen Camilla are avid readers, and Charles himself has even authored a few books (and written forewords for others).

Beginning with His Majesty’s first days as monarch following the death of Queen Elizabeth II, the book follows many firsts for The King – from State Visits and handing out Maundy Money to continuing the tradition of sending wishes for special birthdays and wedding anniversaries to the UK public. Before you scoff at Prince Harry's memoir being included on a list of books to read ahead of the coronation: reading about the King, from the perspective of his younger son, is enlightening. On the book front, I’ve already done a few posts about the Royals here – but so far King Charles hasn’t really figured in any of them.Without these technologies, things like personalised recommendations, your account preferences, or localisation may not work correctly. This collective biography “is as much a forensic autopsy as it is a history,” wrote The Washington Post’s reviewer, Allison Stewart. The New Yorker reported in February that the author personally requested a seat in Westminster Abbey for the coronation.

Jen Long, commissioning editor, said: “ The King’s Runaway Crown is the perfect feel-good story to celebrate King Charles’ coronation and is brilliantly accompanied by Ian’s vibrant illustrations. The definitive biography of the queen's aunt, a sister to two kings and a pioneering member of the royal family, who redefined the role of a princess for the modern age. The problem faced by Jen Arena, author of King Charles III: A Little Golden Book Biography, is really the dilemma of all royal watchers at this moment: How to make a hero of a man who has had little choice but to squander decades twiddling his thumbs. This guidebook to Charles focuses on everything you need to know about the British king—from a timeline of his life, to his children and grandchildren, to coronation traditions. King Charles tells the story of a young prince, his early interest in the environment and how he established the Prince's Trust working to improve the lives of young people across the UK.
