About this deal

Compelling to read and full of profound wisdom, this book rationally describes how our mind functions and how we can cultivate the habit of happiness. In this profound and inspiring book, Gelong Thubten shares a practical and sustainable approach to happiness. He works with major global companies such as Google, Accenture and LinkedIn, and has lectured at Oxford University and for the United Nations. Only thing I will say is it is a little on the repetitive side, I could easily put it down for a few days without longing to read it, which is unusual for me, due to this. A Monk’s Guide to Happiness explores the nature of happiness and helps bust the myth that our lives and minds are too busy for meditation.

His own book, A MONK'S GUIDE TO HAPPINESS was a Sunday Times Top Ten Bestseller with editions in 10 countries internationally. The question should have been, "how is your story different and what New information do you have to offer?First part walks you through the theory behind meditation and also offers plethora of handy advice about the practice itself. Autor zvolil vhodnú kompozíciu textu, ponúka kratšie úseky, kniha sa číta rýchlo a umne vás privedie k podstate. I reflect on the people I have lost and another year where I have to move on without them, I know it is not healthy to think of the past but I have lost some very important people in my life and I often wish they were here to see the joyous moments, the laughter and the celebrations of life. Meditation is more than just a stress-reduction tool or a relaxation therapy, it is the key to finding long-lasting happiness.

Publication dates are subject to change (although this is an extremely uncommon occurrence overall).I like the way it gives some detail about GT's own experience, because that's the sort of thing one is bound to wonder about. Dôležité je vnímať svoje myšlienky, ktoré sa dokážu veľmi rýchlo rozutekať rôznymi smermi, a preto je nutné naučiť sa ich "vrátiť" späť. There is the other argument of the Buddhists, who are concerned about the notion that we keep Craving – which is the problem that keeps us from achieving Nirvana as the nec plus ultra, the ultimate Joie de Vivre – but not in the French, epicurean way, which has no problem with it, indeed, it can be the catharsis we can achieve – the position in which we do not crave for anything anymore – and even when we are – let us say humanely, transitory, as mere mortals – happy, we fear that this will go away and thus we do not enjoy the benefits of what the Buddhists know and teach us – one of them being this monk – the problem being that even the peaceful Buddhists can go astray – I was reading recently about Myanmar, former Burma, and the Buddhists that have sided with the military junta and even worse, an important number of the supposedly peace loving monks have been involved in violence against the Rohinga, Muslim minority, because of religious conflicts, perhaps a touch of nationalism too. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average.
