About this deal

Instead of a religious crusade, Arthur wants to create a national identity for the Britons so they can unite against foreign invaders, like the Saxons and the Belgians. Despite the gore and the ferocity of the battles, there's a nice balance with a lover affair between our main protagonist and narrator Derfel for the beautiful fair-haired Ceinwyn. Tolkien decrees that the architecture of the fantasy genre should be set out in a trilogy so I am moving on to the final book. Enemy of God is a fantastic sequel to bridge the gap towards the final book in the trilogy, 'Excalibur.

Following a hard-fought victory, Arthur appears to have at last won the unity of the British Kingdoms. Derfel makes a desperate bid to claim Ceinwyn, but finds himself on a journey with the mysterious Merlin to find an artifact Merlin claims will bring the old gods back to Britain. Enemy of God, the second book in 'The Warlord Chronicles' trilogy by Bernard Cornwell, and the series so far, has truly been serendipity for me. As predicted in Old Testament Scripture (Psalm 2:2; Isaiah 53:3), the Jewish leaders plotted to kill Jesus (Matthew 12:14; 27:1; Mark 3:6; John 5:18; 7:1, 19; 11:53). After reading this, I have decided I don’t want to read the third book in the series because if I do, it will end.

But God's anger was kindled because he went, and the angel of the Lord took his stand in the way as his adversary. Derfel refuses to support his rival's election to the cult of Mithras as he knows that Lancelot is no warrior. Moreover, the word of the Lord came to me: “Son of man, raise a lamentation over the king of Tyre, and say to him, Thus says the Lord God: “You were the signet of perfection, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty. This theme is personified by Arthur himself and is illuminated by the first person story telling of Derfel. The protagonist is an archer who participates in the Battle of Agincourt, another devastating defeat suffered by the French in the Hundred Years War.

A daughter of Oengus Mac Airem, King of Demetia, Iseult is just the latest in a long line of women who have been married to King Mark, Tristan's father and the sixty-year-old King of Kernow. Many books of this length contain pages or even chapters that disengage me from the story as they can be boring, but this book is an exception. He’s less of the Nick Carraway to Arthur’s Jay Gatsby, and is now a fascinating character of much depth in his own right. But the quest soon unravels the fragile peace, as bitter rivalries come to the fore and threaten to undo Arthur's successes. In the years following Aelle's defeat and the uneasy truce of London, peace nevertheless occurs in Arthur's Britain as Aelle and Cerdic fight among themselves for mastery of Lloegyr.Prior to forming their new alliance, Pilate and Herod Antipas were fiercely hostile toward one another.
