About this deal

Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better. The set also includes an exclusive third CD of previously unreleased demos, and a fourth featuring 18 live performances from 1970/71. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. SINGLES OF OLD WERE REPLACED BY A STRIPPED DOWN POP/ROCK/BLUES SOUND AND MORE SERIOUS LYRICAL APPROACH. Mona Bone Jakon, his first album for Island, showcased a markedly different change in direction for Cat, unveiling with it a remarkable set of new compositions that included classics like Trouble, Maybe You’re Right and the UK hit single Lady D’Arbanville.

It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives. After his recovery, he negotiated out of his contract with Deram Records and worked with former Yardbirds bassist Paul Samwell-Smith on a stripped-down sound. Journalist Robert Chalmers reiterated this point for a 2003 interview with Yusuf Islam for The Independent on Sunday when he wrote: "When [Stevens] re-emerged in 1969, he had more than 40 new songs and released three triumphant albums in 15 months on Chris Blackwell's Island label: Mona Bone Jakon (his pet word for penis), Tea for the Tillerman and Teaser and the Firecat. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. As if, for some crime in the past all my favourite albums have been minced up, tarted up or otherwise messed up by some embryo producer with a kilo up his nose who happens to have had a gold disc with Beyonce. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. Produced by Paul Samwell-Smith (formerly of The Yardbirds), the album featured the single “Lady D’Arbanville” as well as the fan favourites “I Wish, I Wish” and “Maybe You’re Right”.

Preciso che questo è il secondo disco, il primo l'ho restituito perchè ondulato malamente e non poteva essere ascoltato. They were played on acoustic guitars and keyboards and accompanied by a smaller backing band, consisting of three other performers: second guitarist Alun Davies, bassist John Ryan, and drummer Harvey Burns—and on one song, "Katmandu", Peter Gabriel on the flute. I never connected with the later albums, (I thought he went a bit - Cliff Richard) but listening again to 'Sad Lisa' from Tea for the Tillerman, his next album, it is possible to hear a common thread.

Skiba sings it in a kind of exasperated way like He's tired of hearing this negative view constantly and just allowing that person to continue feeling the way they feel knowing he can't do anything about it.The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. Lady D'Arbanville was the 'hit', from those days when you had to have a 'hit' to sell the album and is the only track that really harks back to his first success. To commemorate the album’s 50th anniversary comes this new 180-gram vinyl version containing a stunning new 2020 remaster of ‘Mona Bone Jakon’ by Geoff Pesche at Abbey Road, overseen by original producer Paul Samwell-Smith. Later, he revised his review to a B− and expressed a newfound dislike for the songs " Lady D'Arbanville", " Trouble", and "I Wish, I Wish".
