About this deal

truthfully, I remember my very first early impression of him being along the lines of 'My, the absolute cheek on this one! Hetty and Diamond go to visit Madame Adeline, but all of Mr Marvel's monkeys and Mr Marvel himself have died, leaving only Madame Adeline and the baby monkey, Mavis. Hetty tries to fit in but doesn't thrive, and jumps at the opportunity to go back to her hometown when her foster father dies.

Instead they stay with a seamstress and work on a new act, a parody of the ventriloquist dummy act in the show, using a penny-farthing that they stole from the circus. She acts more childish because all of her young child years had been wasted being an acrobatic child wonder in the circus. She’s a plucky heroine and this fifth book about her trials and triumphs will appeal to intermediate-age readers who enjoy an entertaining historical novel. It's weird to think that she never ever thought about acting in her childhood, but she is so good at it now.I absouloutly love this series, I loved it the first time I ever read it (this was a re-read) and I managed to force a few friends to read it too. I must admit; there was one bit towards the end of the book, where I was getting nervous that Hetty was not going to get herself out of a difficult situation. After Mona finds out the truth about Aunty, she runs from everyone else and finds the Queen Elizabeth model, who is actually Hetty Feather. Although it was great to read about Hetty's breakthrough with acting, the fact remained that poor Diamond was still not given her happy ending. This book brings back some old characters, and I enjoyed finding out what happens to them in the end.

At the start of this book Hetty and her younger friend Diamond are traveling across part of England on a penny farthing.Starring a cast of wonderful characters, both old favourites and new, this is the fifth fabulous Hetty Feather story. I've got to say, I thoroughly enjoyed all her forays into performing, eventually finding what I think is her rightful place as a true star in the West End, with a family of misfits who all love her just like blood relatives and, at the risk of repeating myself, perhaps even more so.
