About this deal

Use PlastiKote Chalk spray paint in Vintage White to create a White Christmas theme to your decorations. Chalk spray paint is water-based with 90% less solvents than conventional spray paint and therefore much kinder to the environment. So, go for a brisk walk in the countryside to collect pine cones, leaves, ivy, twigs and you’ll be set to create your own winter wonderland. Our top three Metallics from the Fast Dry Enamel range are Copper, Chrome and Gold Leaf. Which is your favourite? I made these from reclaimed wood and finished with Vintage White Chalk spray paint. These houses make up a winter village on my open shelving in the kitchen.

If you do decide to spray paint your artificial Christmas tree, here are a few tips to help you get the best results: If you need to apply a second coat of paint, wait for the first coat to dry completely and then repeat the process. Equally easy to do is our twig tree decorated with sprayed pine cones. Screw small metal eyelets into the top of the cones to hang them. If you want a more natural look, lightly spritz the cones and twigs with white Chalk paint to give the effect of a light dusting of snow. Fruit and nuts look stunning when sprayed with a metallic colour – Gold Leaf was used for this collection. Displayed in a glass bowl, they make a lovely centrepiece – just don’t try eating them! You will also need to tape off any areas that you do not want to paint. Once the area is prepared, you can begin spraying paint onto the tree.Be sure to work in a well-ventilated area and wear protective clothing, such as a mask and goggles. Can you spray paint a faux Christmas tree? Also, be sure to use caution when handling and using spray paint, as it can be harmful if inhaled or ingested. Can you use spray paint on a Christmas tree? As a new season arrives, lifestyle magazines and blogs invite us to change our interiors to complement the time of year. If you’re looking for an affordable way to add some autumnal accents to your home, look no further than a pile of dried leaves and PlastiKote spray paint!

Submerge the cut decal in a bowl filled with room-temperature water, until the decal is able to slide off then apply the decal to the surface of the bauble and press firmly. Be sure to work in a well-ventilated area and wear protective clothing, such as a mask and goggles. Can you spray paint an artificial Christmas tree white? If the tree is made of a more porous or less smooth material, the paint may not adhere well and may not look as smooth or even as it would on a tree made of a smoother material. Finally, wipe down any surfaces that may have been affected by the spray paint, such as walls or furniture. How do you spray paint an old Christmas tree?

Another common mistake is to paint the tree and bring it inside to decorate within a few hours. You want to give your paint time to cure before using it to decorate your home. I recommend 72 hours. Additionally, spray paint can be difficult to control and may not provide a consistent or professional finish on the tree. Lightly sand to remove any flakes of paint or varnish and wash with warm, soapy water to get rid of any dirt, dust or grease. Allow to dry. For any bare wood surface, always use primer. PlastiKote Twist & Spray Primer is ideal. If your item has already been spray painted with PlastiKote, you can just put your new colour over the top but if you want to ‘kill’ the existing colour, ie if it is dark and you’re going light, or you’re not sure what paint or varnish was previously use, priming will give you a good base to start on. Priming also gives added durability. Prepare your spraying area with dust sheets, newspaper or cardboard. Set up in a well-ventilated room or preferably outside on a warm, calm day.

Large leaves make great place settings when sprayed. Either add a tag as shown or use a marker to write on the leaf. Use light, even coats of paint, and allow each coat to dry completely before applying the next one. If you prefer a more subtle look, a single ivy leaf sprayed white with a luggage label attached looks super stylish. Or, for a bit of bling, this copper-sprayed sycamore leaf looks fab on a plain white plate. Just use a marker to write the name on. All of these projects can be achieved in less than an hour, so no excuses! Enjoy being creative and add your own homemade decs to this year’s display. Use masking tape or painter’s tape to cover any areas of the tree that you do not want to paint, such as the wiring or electrical connections.A metallic accent lifts any colour scheme and PlastiKote Fast Dry Enamel comes in Gold Leaf, Copper, Antique Gold, Silver (Chrome), Rose Gold and Brass. Available in 100ml cans, a little goes a long way and using (free) leaves means you won’t break the bank updating your decor. Once your tree is primed, it’s time to start painting. Choose any color or colors that you like and start spraying. Work in small sections so that the paint doesn’t get too wet and start running. This pretty table centre piece came from Rosie. She made it for the autumn but it took her all the way through to the festive season. Gorgeous! A good excuse for a pre-Christmas tipple! Spray clean, empty bottles with Metallics or festive colours – use as vases for fresh foliage or do as we have and spray dried seed heads to fill them.

Pine cones – they’re free, easy to find and make fabulous festive decorations with the help of PlastiKote spray paint. In their natural state, they complement a woodland-themed tree or table setting but a spritz of spray paint can make them a colourful and glittery addition to your Christmas décor. Shelley shared this fabulous bedside cabinet makeover with us. She took the transformation further by changing the handles to pretty glass ones and applying some marbled paper to the top. When it comes to painting your Christmas tree, you want to make sure that you apply primer before you spray paint. Hang to dry for 10 minutes, then cut off the thread and replace with your choice of ribbon. What kind of paint do you use for glass baubles? Sarah sent us this lovely chair makeover. It was a first time project and we were thrilled to hear that it had inspired her to do more.Rub-on transfers are an easy way to bring a unique touch to Christmas baubles, plus, unlike paint, they are pretty mess-free! You can either buy ready-printed designs, or alternatively, you can make your own designs using an inkjet printer and waterslide decal paper. So, go for a brisk country walk and collect your leaves. We particularly like the large sycamore leaves. Dry them between a couple of heavy books to get them to lie flat. When ready to spray, prepare your spraying area with cardboard or newspaper and make sure the room is well-ventilated. Spray with your chosen metallic, using fine mists of paint to build the colour. These two images show the depth of colour and shine that is achieved with PlastiKote Metallic spray paints. If you feel a little more ambitious, these mini cone trees are a cute decoration and could double as place name holders. The mini maché planters and gift box are from Hobbycraft. Once you’re happy with the way your tree looks, let the paint dry completely. This may take a few hours or even overnight.
