Kitkallos being banned seems like the most oblivious hit as its the main play maker due to the search, mill, and easy material requirement. While its the material for Rulkallos not only can they fairly easily use swamp king but they could print another monster that has the effect to copy her name. Along with making instant fusion a one card combo enabler. We of course have to look at the Tearlament Fusions, and we’ll look at the one that’ll be Fusion Material for the archetype’s next boss monster: Tearlaments Kitkallos.

Tearlaments Kitkallos makes it to the top of the meta and to the top of the Top 10 of 2022, fittingly. Underworld Goddess of the Closed World can use one of the opponent's monsters as materials, becoming a safe way to remove monsters from the field. It can also negate Special Summon effects by tributing a monster you control. In this current meta, Evenly Matched is the most effective way to clear out the opponent's field, at the cost of doing nothing during the Battle Phase. The less cards you have on the field, the stronger this cards is; and because the cards are banished, the Tearlaments Cards cannot activate their GY effects. Tearlaments" is a portmanteau of "tear", "tiara", "lament" and "firmaments"; each card's name is derived from a word used to describe grief or sorrow. Because you need Kitkallos for this summon, you’ll have to Fusion summon her first and then fusion climb, which in Tearlaments isn’t hard to come by. Send another Tearlament monster that you haven’t used for the Kitkallos Fusion Summon, and boom! You’ve got Rulkallos. This is even easier to come by if you use Instant Fusion to summon Kitkallos and then mill a Tearlament monster that can perform the Fusion Summon through any kind of milling or discarding means. Tearlaments have their own effects to mill, they have the Ishizu monsters, and they’ve got Tearlament Grief, Tearlament Heartbeat, and Tearlament Scream in the form of Spell cards to send/mill to get that Tearlament in the grave to perform another Fusion Summon. a b c d Effect/card can only be activated if the player controls either a "Tearlaments" monster or a " Visas Starfrost". Because of how crucial the Graveyard is for the Tearlaments archetype, denying them that will shut down their combos. Dimension Shifter can do just that if you happen to open the Duel with it on hand, and might even singlehandedly win you the Duel if the opponent has no way of playing around i.

Since the inception of Kashtira, Tearlaments has proven that it is basically able to merge with any other archetype. What happens when Kashtira is hit on the banlist? Will Tearlaments simply adopt yet another engine? for-1 effect on the surface to Special Summon a Tearlament from your hand or grave and send the other monster of yours that you had to target to the grave. Within this archetype and even used within other archetypes this won’t be a 1-for-1. Each Tearlament (minus Reinoheart) will trigger a Fusion Summon upon hitting the grave, monsters within other archetypes will trigger searches or field advantage. If you somehow only got a 1-for-1 with this effect it would feel like a negative.There are a lot of relevant archetypes that could potentially go straight for the throne after the topple of power, so let us look at them!
