Pros: *Highly entertaining and enjoyable. *Great fight cherography and Zoaniod costumes. *A good and interesting plot. *A very original Sci-Fi, Horror, Action & Martial Arts film. Differences between the "Director's Cut" (actually the original theatrical version) and the VHS version are as follows: The action was also much more fierce. Hayter was even faster moving and more agile than Armstrong as the Guyver. It was done really well as were the hand-to-hand combat sequences. The special effects seemed to have improved as well. Still the creatures look like they were just people in costumes but they didn't look as rubbery coated. The dubbing was also done better for when the Zoanoids spoke in their monster form. Even one time composer, Les Claypool III, did a decent job on the unreleased music score. It wasn't complex but it did have a tune that got the blood pumping while watching the movie; which I enjoyed. The Uranus were said to be highly pleased with their Zoanoid creations, but after the Guyver-Zero incident, nevertheless abandoned them and attempted to destroy them.

This film, directed by Steve Wang, is less comical and focuses a lot more on the character, getting to the center of his dilemma and how he feels that the Guyver armor is pushing him to kill. Following the events, Sean reveals to Cori that the Guyvers were a failed experiment: in prehistoric times, aliens had attempted to turn primitive humans into Guyvers to fight their wars, but the humans rebelled, forcing the aliens to leave Earth. When a Zoanoid dies, whether in human or battle form, his body will disintegrate with alarming rapidity; essentially, this is the same process that allows them to transform from one form to another. Admittedly, I bought this movie on the basis that it starred David Hayter. As a fan of him as Solid Snake, and his writing on the X-Men movies, I couldn't help but get it. It's true he's a better voice actor than actor, but I still enjoyed the movie. At the camp, Atkins and his commandos prevent Crane from executing the archaeological team and safely evacuate them. A creature gets his head cut off while in a river, the water turns red. A creature gets electrocuted and then shot two times. A creature's head explodes. A creature melts down to the bone. A creature gets stabbed with a crow-bar. The death scenes are graphic and bloody. However mankind survived thanks to Archanfel and the Zoanoids, now without a leader, intermingled with the rest of mankind. While their blood thinned out, the Zoanoid genes would resurface from time to time, leading to legends of monsters and demons. Finally, about 400 years before the present, Archanfel re-awoke and created Chronos, and eventually Zoanoid production began again (although the mass processing of humans into Zoanoids seems to be recent development).Rasputinian Death: Volker after a long fight with the Guyver, has his ribs smashed in to the point of vomiting blood, is stabbed multiple times with the elbow swords, has his gut and chest carved into with said swords, arms broken and wrists snapped to the point of rupturing his crushed fingers and joints, gets his eyes blasted out by the head beam, and then finally has his skull caved in to put him down. So the fight sequences look a lot like a power rangers episode, but imagine it to be more like a Rated R power rangers. And that concept alone is worth watching this movie.
